Quick Care

You can be seen for a Quick Care (walk-in) appointment at Callen-Lorde on a first-come, first-served basis or you can be scheduled for the same or next day, depending on availability. We treat a range of non-life-threatening conditions, including:

Illness & Infections

Colds, flu, COVID-19 symptoms, sore throat, ear infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

Minor Injuries

Cuts and burns, mild sprains

Diagnostic Testing

Tests for HIV and STIs (including mpox), strep, flu, COVID-19 and RSV and pregnancy tests

Sexual Health Services

STI testing, treatment, PrEP and PEP services

Vaccinations

Flu shots and some routine vaccines

Dental

Urgent dental visits are reserved for patients with time-sensitive concerns like pain or swelling.

Unlike the rest of Quick Care options, dental services are only offered at our Chelsea clinic.

These appointments are limited and scheduled based on availability. Quick Care appointments are not guaranteed. Please call our office to see if an Quick Care visit is available for the same day or in the next few days. Click here to learn about our general dental services.


We do NOT have the following services available on-site:

  • Radiology (X-rays, ultrasound, CT scans, etc.)
  • IV placement or IV medications
  • Wound suturing or stapling
  • Braces or casts for broken bones
  • Most specialty services (surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, obstetrics, etc.)

What kind of appointment do I need?

Emergency – Please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room for severe conditions, such as:

  • Chest pain or difficulty breathing
  • Head or spine injuries
  • Anaphylactic/severe allergic reactions
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Vomiting blood
  • Black stool
  • Severe burns, wounds, or cuts
  • Poisoning
  • Broken bones
  • Loss of consciousness
  • New seizure or convulsion
  • Stroke symptoms—new weakness on one side of the face or body, trouble with vision or speech, sudden confusion
  • Vaginal bleeding with pregnancy
Primary Care

Great for routine care and managing ongoing problems. Please make an appointment with your primary care provider to be seen soon.

  • Physical Exams
  • Screenings—blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, HIV/STIs, cancer
  • Chronic disease management such as asthma, diabetes, HIV, depression, high blood pressure
  • Gender affirming hormone therapy
  • Birth control and contraception, cervical cancer screening, routine gynecologic care
  • PrEP and DoxyPEP
  • Form completion
  • Pre-op evaluations
  • Hospital and ER follow-up
  • Chronic pain (>2 weeks)
  • Prescriptions—refills and new prescriptions
  • Vaccinations
  • TB testing

 

Quick Care

Great for immediate care that is not life-threatening.

  • Cold, flu or fever
  • Bronchitis or asthma exacerbation
  • Eye, ear, throat or sinus infection
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Vaginal discharge
  • STI symptoms and exposures
  • Possible HIV exposure—PEP and PrEP
  • New HIV Diagnosis—never been in care
  • Tension or migraine headache
  • New rash
  • Abdominal pain
  • Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
  • Minor cuts and scrapes
  • Sprains or minor injuries
  • Emergency contraception
