Community Advisory Board

The Community Advisory Board (CAB) is a volunteer Board comprised of dedicated patients and families of patients who provide feedback and suggestions on the programs and services that Callen-Lorde provides. The CAB meets with Callen-Lorde staff on a quarterly basis to discuss which aspects of our programs are successful and which could use some improvements. The CAB is a vital part of our patient feedback and a wonderful way to give back to Callen-Lorde.

Members of the CAB are expected to attend four meetings a year that occur in the evenings. In addition, each CAB member must participate in a subcommittee that will meet an additional 3-4 times a year. CAB member terms are expected for a two years but members can resign at any time.

Currently, the CAB has six subcommittees that focus on different aspects of patient care. The current subcommittees focus on HIV, women’s care, transgender/gender non-binary care, mental/behavioral health care, senior care, and care for those with disabilities. Participating CAB members do not need to be a part of the community that the subcommittee represents in order to participate. In other words, you do not have to be living with a disability to be on the disability subcommittee.

The Callen-Lorde CAB is currently seeking new members. While we welcome patients and family members of any demographic to apply, in an effort to ensure adequate representation of all demographics, we are especially looking for applicants that identify as women, gender non-binary, HIV positive, and/or are seniors. That said, we are open to new applications of any current patient or family member of a patient of any demographic at any time.

If you have additional questions, please email info@callen-lorde.org. If you would like to apply, please fill out the form below and someone will be in touch.

Currently CAB applications are only open to active patients of Callen-Lorde.

Community Advisory Board Application

The Advisory Board wishes to make it as easy as possible for you to apply for membership. We will be glad to help you fill out the application form and to answer any questions you may have about what it would be like to serve on the Board. Please email us. As there are only a limited number of seats on the Board, not every person who fills out an application form will be asked to serve on the Advisory Board.
