Celebrate, and Keep Fighting

Today we celebrate what many of us have long fought for: the right to legally marry. To have our families and dignities protected is long overdue. Many of us have fought tirelessly for this moment for over 20 years, from Romer v Evans through the case of our good friend and advocate, Edie Windsor, who at 81, decided to sue the federal government for denying her equal marriage protection.

This week we also saw the confirmation of health care as a human right via the provisions of the Affordable Care Act. Both of these victories exist in the continued struggle for racial, economic and gender justice. We must continue to rise up against these challenges and work together towards a day when we can all live happy, housed, and healthy lives.

Celebrate this moment, and let’s keep fighting.

Love and gratitude,

WSsig
