Maulik Pancholy
Maulik Pancholy is an award-winning actor, author and activist.
Best known for playing Jonathan on NBC’s critically acclaimed Emmy®, Golden Globe and SAG award-winning comedy 30 Rock, Pancholy also played Sanjay on Showtime’s Weeds and Neal on NBC’s Whitney. His recurring and guest-starring roles include Only Murders in The Building, The Good Fight, Dynasty, Elementary, Star Trek: Discovery, Friends from College, The Good Wife, Web Therapy, The Comeback and others. For his work on television, he has been nominated for and won multiple Screen Actors Guild awards.
Pancholy is the voice of Baljeet on Disney’s Emmy®-winning Phineas and Ferb and Sanjay on Nickelodeon’s Sanjay and Craig. He can also be heard on Disney’s Mira, Royal Detective and Milo Murphy’s Law, Netflix’s Q-Force and the YouTube series Ghee Happy. His numerous film credits include blockbuster hits and independent films.
On Broadway, Pancholy starred in the Tony-nominated production of Grand Horizons and in Terrence McNally’s It’s Only A Play, with notable Off-Broadway credits including David Rabe’s Good for Otto.
Pancholy’s debut novel, The Best at It was a 2020 Stonewall Honor Book, a 2019 Junior Library Guild Selection and a Chicago Public Library Best of the Best Books. His second novel, Nikhil Out Loud was a 2023 Lambda Literary Award Winner and a Kirkus Best Book of the Year. His debut YA rom-com, Will They, Won’t They is slated for a summer 2026 release, and he is currently creating, executive producing, writing and starring in a scripted audio podcast for Broadway Video and Audible.
A longtime advocate for the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) and LGBTQ+ communities, Pancholy was appointed by President Obama to serve on the President’s Advisory Commission on AAPIs. He is a co-founder of the anti-bullying nonprofit ActToChange.org, which works to end bullying for AAPI youth and to foster a world where all young people can celebrate their identities.
