Thank You for Making Callen-Lorde’s 23rd Annual Community Health Awards an Incredible Success!
On behalf of Callen-Lorde’s gala event and auction committee, the Board, and our staff, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who showed up and otherwise supported our 23rd Annual Community Health Awards on Thursday, November 2, 2023. Your energy and enthusiasm truly made it a night to remember!
We are thrilled to announce that with your participation and generosity, we raised $700,000 to support Callen-Lorde’s mission to provide excellent quality healthcare to the LGBTQ+ community of New York City regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.
As the sun set over the Hudson, the evening began with guests mingling over cocktails and auction pieces generously contributed by over 120 artists and organizations. A huge shoutout to everyone who contributed auction items for the evening and Chelsea Frames for custom artwork framing.
Drag King and comedian Murray Hill served as the host for the evening and kicked off dinner with remarks by Callen-Lorde’s new CEO Patrick McGovern.
Together with over 650 guests, partners, and supporters, the Community Health Awards honored three incredible leaders, trailblazers, and visionaries for the LGBTQ+ community: Senior Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Special Assistant to the Commissioner at Major League Baseball, Billy Bean; Model, actress and champion for trans communities, Dominique Jackson; and WNBA team and 2023 Commissioner’s Cup Champions the New York Liberty.
