Kyle Durrant is from the Klickitat and Wishram tribes and bands of the Yakama Nation. He has been practicing at Callen-Lorde since Fall 2022. He is a graduate of the Doctor of Nursing Practice – Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. Prior to joining the team at Callen-Lorde, Kyle worked as a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Float Pool Registered Nurse at Northwell Health Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan.
Some of his achievements include being named a National Medical Fellowships – Primary Care Leadership Program Scholar, a Jonas Nurse Scholar, Sackler Institute Scholar by the Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, and a Global Fellow by Columbia University School of Nursing. Kyle is also a member of the Native Ending the HIV Epidemic National Advisory Committee at the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board, working towards indigenizing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ HIV National Strategic Plan. He is also serving as a Graduate Nursing Student Assembly Leadership Council Member at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Kyle is interested in addressing health disparities experienced by Two Spirit-LGBTQ+ and Indigenous peoples in primary care through clinical practice, research, advocacy, and policy change.
