Health Education & Outreach
Callen-Lorde strives to promote health and wellness by providing LGBT-affirmative health education to all of our patients. Our mission is to supply the LGBT community with health care information that can empower them to make their own health care decisions.
We also provide health information, training, and education to both communities and institutions outside of Callen-Lorde to ensure that LGBT people receive safe and supportive health care services.
Services
- Providing LGBT sensitivity training to medical, health care, and other social service professionals;
- Offering youth-specific trainings for schools and organizations serving LGBT and homeless or runaway young people;
- Conducting health education workshops, especially those related to LGBT health priorities, throughout the five boroughs of New York City;
- Building new partnerships via outreach activities such as tabling at health fairs;
- Creating safe spaces for patients to impact the services and programs at Callen-Lorde.
Workshops
Our workshops are designed to cover a range of content areas and focus on key health priorities for LGBT individuals and those living with HIV/AIDS. We design and implement trainings for all community members and allies, regardless of sexual orientation.
