People of transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) experience often face widespread discrimination and misunderstanding from health care providers. As a consequence, many persons of transgender experience do not have safe access to primary and preventive healthcare.
Callen-Lorde provides a trans-affirmative environment where patients can receive hormone therapy as well as engage in an ongoing relationship with a primary care provider and/or a mental health provider to address the full spectrum of health and wellness needs.
Callen-Lorde also provides Care Coordination tailored for patients of transgender experience that need additional support. Our Care Coordinators offer information, assistance and referrals regarding benefits and entitlements, including insurance, housing, and referrals to other supportive services.
Trans Sexual Health Services include:
- Chest/Breast Health
- Pelvic Wellness Exams; PAP Tests
- Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Screenings & Treatment
- HIV/AIDS Testing & Treatment
- Harm Reduction Counseling
- Hormone Care

NYC-Metro Area Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming (TGNC) Community Resources
This is a guide to community organizations and social and supportive services in the NYC-Metro area that are either known to have experience working with TGNC people, or who offer unique services that some in our community might need. However, the presence of an organization here does not mean that it will be a safe referral for all TGNC people. If you have any concerns, it is always a good idea to bring a friend or other supportive ally with you.
