Spring Fever 2020

March 19, 2020 @ 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Dear Supporters,

Out of an abundance of caution in response to the Coronavirus outbreak, Callen-Lorde is postponing or cancelling all non-essential meetings and gatherings. As a result we are postponing Spring Fever. We ask for your patience as we figure out a new date for this celebration.

Spring Fever attracts powerful women, trans and non-binary communities, femmes, friends, and allies to gather and celebrate Callen-Lorde Community Health Center’s affirming and inclusive women’s health program while honoring influential women who have positively impacted LGBTQ communities in New York and beyond.

This year we’re proud to honor queer transgender activist, writer, and speaker, Raquel Willis alongside Carri Lyon, Executive Managing Director and Co-Chair of the national Not-for-Profit Advisory Group at Cushman & Wakefield! Past honorees include writer, curator, and activist Kimberly Drew; comedian, activist, musician, and actor, Lea DeLaria; activist and equal marriage champion, the late Edie Windsor; longtime Callen-Lorde supporter and former board-chair, Ellen Alpert; performing artist and political activist, Staceyann Chin; novelist, playwright, and AIDS Historian Sarah Schulman; platform, collective, and women’s booking agency, Discwoman; and Editor in Chief of HuffPost, Lydia Polgreen; and pioneering physician, Lucy N. Painter, M.D.

Raquel Willis,  Honoree

Raquel Willis is a Black queer transgender activist, writer and speaker dedicated to elevating marginalized individuals, particularly transgender women of color. She is currently the executive editor of Out magazine and the founder of Black Trans Circles through Transgender Law Center (TLC). In 2018, she was named a Jack Jones Literary Arts Sylvia Rivera Fellow. She’s also a part of Echoing Ida, a national Black women and nonbinary writers’ collective.

Carri Lyon, Honoree

As a broker, attorney and site selection specialist, Elinore Carrington “Carri” Lyon has over 26 years of broad-based real estate experience. Carri currently serves as Co-Head of Cushman & Wakefield’s National Not-For-Profit Practice Group. In addition to the many technology, marketing, law and financial services companies she has represented, Carri has also assisted numerous not-for-profit organizations in space acquisitions and dispositions, and she is regarded as one of the leading nonprofit brokers in New York City. She has also been recognized as a “Woman of Influence” by Real Estate New York and she was one of forty women across the nation recognized by the Stonewall Community Foundation for her many years of charitable work.

Sponsorship opportunities are currently available and come with an array of benefits and visibility.  General tickets will go on sale February 24th. Contact Sunil Persaud, Development Officer at 212.271.7263 or spersaud@callen-lorde.org for more information.
