CLINICAL DIRECTOR OF PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES

Position Summary

Callen-Lorde is seeking an experienced, dedicated, full-time psychiatrist (MD) to serve as the first Clinical Director of Psychiatric Services for our new Article 31 adult outpatient mental health clinic. This position requires demonstrated competence in meeting the mental health needs for the LGBT community and persons living with HIV and compliance with NYS OMH regulations. This position will provide collaborative oversight of clinic operations, as well as supervise and directly provide psychiatric assessment and psychopharmacological treatment of patients.

Work Schedule/Salary/Benefits

The Health Center is open Monday through Saturday. Some evening hours are required. Salary will depend on experience and will be accompanied by an excellent benefits package, including individual medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, generous paid time off, and 403B plan.

Qualifications

  • New York State Certification/Licensure and current New York State Registration.
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry.
  • Experience working in a NYS Article 31 clinic required; management and quality assurance experience in an Article 31 setting highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing sensitive, culturally competent psychiatric care to LGBT persons and persons living with HIV, especially disenfranchised persons and persons of color.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with the special substance use concerns of dually diagnosed LGBT persons.
  • Innovative, strengths based approaches to working with acute and chronic mental health issues in an outpatient setting, with demonstrated skill in reducing occurrence of inpatient hospital stays.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative, team based mental health treatment valuing the input and perspective of the full array of mental health professionals.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and participate in multiple clinical teams.
  • Commitment to community based health and mental health services.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.

DENTIST - PART-TIME (3 EVENINGS, PER DIEM)

Position Summary

Callen-Lorde is seeking an experienced, dedicated Dentist to join our team in providing oral health services to a diverse patient population, including those living with HIV. In this role you will perform routine preventative and maintenance dentistry, as well as complex treatments for advance oral diseases and injuries of teeth and gums.

Work Schedule/Salary/Benefits

Callen-Lorde is open Monday through Saturday. This position is part time and will work 2-3 evening shifts Monday – Thursday between 5:00-8:30pm. Saturday hours (9:00-3:00pm) may be required as well. Salary will depend on experience. This is a per diem position which is not eligible for benefits.

DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Position Summary

Callen-Lorde is seeking a seasoned, dynamic executive with strong knowledge of healthcare financial management to provide financial leadership to our growing Federally Qualified Health Center.

As a Senior Manager reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance (DF) guides all aspects of the organization's financial management. You will provide leadership, direction, and oversight for accounting, payroll, and purchasing, patient accounts/billing. Areas of focus will include government contract management, capital structure and debt management, strategic budgeting, and financial operations. The ideal candidate is hands-on working manager whose goal is to maintain a high level of patient and staff satisfaction, excellent vendor and lender relationships, and long-term financial equilibrium for the organization.

Additional responsibilities include ensuring compliance with Federal/State tax guidelines and laws as they relate to 501c(3) organizations as well as regulations for all federal, State, and local funding sources; ensuring accurate and timely completion of all reports related to reimbursement (including Medicare and Medicaid cost reports) and funding (including UDS) reports; facilitating the smooth and efficient performance of annual external audits; preparing monthly financial statements and providing financial reports to the Board of Directors.


Candidates must meet the following qualifications in order to be considered for this position:

  • CPA certification is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible financial management experience, preferably including at least two in a health care setting and managing an annual budget in excess of 15 million.
  • In-depth knowledge of New York State health care financing, including Federally Qualified Health Center reimbursement, as well as federal, State, and City service contract requirements.
  • Demonstrated excellence in hands-on supervision, team leadership, business planning, and systems development.
  • Strong interest in developing services for underserved populations, particularly LGBT communities.

DIRECTOR OF NURSING

Position Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) plays a key role in operations and quality assurance. The DON is responsible for supervising and coordinating all nursing care to our patients, including laboratory services, floor nursing, urgent care triage, and patient education/medical case management. The DON is responsible for ensuring that patients receive quality, sensitive, comprehensive, coordinated care throughout all areas of the health center, promoting wellness and preventive health awareness. The DON supervises and provides clinical leadership to staff RNs, LPNs, MAs, Phlebotomists, and Pharmacy Technicians as well as volunteers and students. An expanded role in other patient support services will be considered for an applicant with appropriate experience.

Work Schedule/Salary/Benefits

The Health Center is open Monday through Saturday. While this is a full time day shift position, some evening shift coverage is required (noon – 8 pm). Qualifications

  • New York State RN, (or NP,PA) License, current registration & CPR certification required
  • Master’s degree preferred

FACILITIES MANAGER

Position Summary

The Facilities Manager (FM) is responsible for: 1) the appropriate functioning, appearance, cleanliness, safety, and regulatory compliance of the physical building in which Callen-Lorde operates. This includes maintenance of standpipes, sprinklers, and fire safety system; HVAC; elevators; boiler and water pumps; electric and wiring systems; and all parts of the interior and exterior of the building, including the roof and sidewalk, and 2) the appropriate functioning of all office systems and processes, including equipment, inventory maintenance and distribution, fulfillment of internal service requests, etc. The FM develops and carries out effective systems for logging and tracking of needed inspections, maintenance schedules, and repair needs, and for communicating timelines for resolution of problems with staff. The FM is also responsible for the upkeep of clinical and office equipment and the organization’s mobile medical van(s). The Manager provides supervision, training, assistance, and backup to a staff of 2 as well as oversees security staff and housekeepers and acts as a liaison to and coordinator of facility renovation projects. The Manager is very hands-on and performs many needed functions her/himself.

Work Schedule/Salary/Benefits

The Manager will generally work Monday through Friday, and will include some early morning, evening, and weekend hours. Qualifications

  • Ability to perform general building maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills along with helpful, can-do attitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to create effective tracking/tickler systems for routine inspection and repair issues.
  • Experience in construction project management highly preferred.
  • Medical facility experience and/or familiarity with infection control guidelines preferred.
  • Certificate of Fitness for from FDNY for Standpipe and Sprinkler as well as Fire Safety Director and Emergency Action Plan Director.
  • Bachelors degree in social service related field and/or FMA professional designation from Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) preferred.
  • Flexible schedule availability required (regular early mornings, occasional late nights).
  • Sensitivity to LGBT, HIV, and diverse communities required.
  • Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks, and excellent attention to detail.

LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE

Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for assisting primary care providers, physicians, and mid-level providers by providing general nursing care, patient screening, and clinical support. This position reports to the Associate Director of Nursing.

The Health Center is open Monday through Saturday. Two 12pm-8pm shifts required weekly. PATIENT CARE ASSOCIATE

Position Summary

The Patient Care Associates (PCAs) are part of our dynamic medical team and work in collaboration with our nursing and provider staff to ensure optimal patient care. The PCAs are the primary customer service contact with our patients. In this role, you are responsible for maintaining an efficient flow of patients, visitors, and phone calls into the various systems of the Center, providing administrative support to the clinical staff as well as assisting with the collection of patient registration, billing and payment data. You must have a passion for helping others, be courteous, patient and professional at all times. An entry-level position for recent college grads, it is an excellent way to begin a career in a not-for-profit or health care setting.

Work Schedule/Salary/Benefits

Full time position - Minimum of 35 hours per week. Salary is paid at an hourly rate, plus excellent benefits package.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in Social Service related discipline.
  • Strong computer competency (MS Office); ability to learn new software.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent attention to detail.
