DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Position Summary

Callen-Lorde is seeking a seasoned, dynamic executive with strong knowledge of healthcare financial management to provide financial leadership to our growing Federally Qualified Health Center.

As a Senior Manager reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance (DF) guides all aspects of the organization's financial management. You will provide leadership, direction, and oversight for accounting, payroll, and purchasing, patient accounts/billing. Areas of focus will include government contract management, capital structure and debt management, strategic budgeting, and financial operations. The ideal candidate is hands-on working manager whose goal is to maintain a high level of patient and staff satisfaction, excellent vendor and lender relationships, and long-term financial equilibrium for the organization.

Additional responsibilities include ensuring compliance with Federal/State tax guidelines and laws as they relate to 501c(3) organizations as well as regulations for all federal, State, and local funding sources; ensuring accurate and timely completion of all reports related to reimbursement (including Medicare and Medicaid cost reports) and funding (including UDS) reports; facilitating the smooth and efficient performance of annual external audits; preparing monthly financial statements and providing financial reports to the Board of Directors.


Candidates must meet the following qualifications in order to be considered for this position:

  • CPA certification is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible financial management experience, preferably including at least two in a health care setting and managing an annual budget in excess of 15 million.
  • In-depth knowledge of New York State health care financing, including Federally Qualified Health Center reimbursement, as well as federal, State, and City service contract requirements.
  • Demonstrated excellence in hands-on supervision, team leadership, business planning, and systems development.
  • Strong interest in developing services for underserved populations, particularly LGBT communities.

HEALTH INSURANCE FACILITATED ENROLLER - 5 POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Position Summary

The Facilitated Enroller is responsible for identifying eligible candidates and assisting with enrollment in Medicaid, Family Health Plus and Child Health Plus as well as assisting current members to recertify into these plans. The position requires frequent travel through NYC in the boroughs of Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx. Consistently meeting established monthly enrollment quotas is a job requirement.

Work Schedule/Salary/Benefits

The Health Center is open Monday through Saturday. Some evening hours are required. Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in health/social services or the equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

HIV SPECIALIST MEDICAL PROVIDER

Position Summary

Callen-Lorde is seeking an experienced, dedicated clinician (MD, DO) to join our team in providing both HIV and primary care services to a panel of diverse patients. Working with a close-knit group of colleagues, the provider maintains a high degree of professional competence and functions as a reliable member of a care-giving team.

The position involves weekly evening and occasional Saturday hours. Qualifications

  • New York State Certification/Licensure and current New York State Registration
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Practice. HIVMA or AAHIVM certification strongly preferred
  • Substantial experience in HIV primary care. (Minimum of 2 years) Experience in sexually transmitted infection screening, treatment, and education
  • Commitment to community based health care services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of LGBT health related concerns and experience in providing medical care in LGBT communities

MANAGER OF FACILITATED ENROLLMENT

Position Summary

Callen-Lorde is seeking a dedicated, flexible individual to join our staff as the Manager, Public Health Insurance Facilitated Enrollment. The Facilitated Enrollment Manager will serve as the primary contact to NYSDOH regarding all issues related to the facilitated enrollment into Medicaid, Family Health Plus, Child Health Plus, Healthy New York and the Bridge Plan. The Manager oversees five facilitated enrollers and provides ongoing supervision. The Manager will establish and maintain strong connections with partnering agencies. The Manager, Facilitated Enrollment conducts all quality assurance functions to ensure weekly and monthly goals are being met.

The Health Center is open Monday through Saturday. Some evening hours will be required. Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related field is preferred, Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
  • Experience in social services, case management and/or entitlements work required.
  • Advanced computer literacy is essential.
  • Extensive knowledge of NYS Medicaid and its associated programs essential. Knowledge of Medicare and related entitlement programs and services is preferred
  • Experience working with diverse populations and the agencies that serve them (including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) and communities of color is required.
  • 1 – 3 years of prior experience supervising field based staff and/or performance based grant contract monitoring preferred.
  • Prior experience in a health care setting is preferred

PREVENTION AND OUTREACH PROVIDER

Position Summary

The Prevention and Outreach Provider (POP) will participate in all aspects of the agency’s Prevention and Outreach program. Responsibilities include providing HIV testing, and screening and assessment/risk reduction counseling to patients in both stand alone visits and the Sexual Health Clinic, in accordance with established Callen-Lorde testing protocol. Responsibilities will also include internal data collection, reporting, and analyzing for contractual submission. In addition, the POP will participate in Callen-Lorde’s community outreach, education and marketing activities, through community events in the New York metropolitan area, and through collaborations to other CBOs, and will include involvement in the design, implementation and maintenance of multiple prevention interventions unique to Callen-Lorde.

Health Center is open Monday through Saturday. Evening and Saturday hours are required. Qualifications

  • College degree (BA/BS) in health/social services required.
  • Experience in health care, HIV service delivery or social services preferred.

TEAM LEAD LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE

Position Summary

Callen-Lorde is seeking a Team Lead Licensed Practical Nurse (Team Lead LPN), a leadership role responsible for the coordination of an interdisciplinary Patient Care Team. In this role you will serve as a bridge between providers and patient care team staff by monitoring patient appointment flow to ensure timely patient-centered care and coordinating team communications. Additionally you will provide on-going feedback regarding staff performance to the Nursing Clinical Supervisor and will execute corrective action plans under his/her direction. The Team Lead LPN will ensure compliance with quality assurance indicators and promote professional development through clinical supervision, mentoring, and orientation of LPNs and MAs. In addition you will be expected to directly assist primary care providers (Physicians. PAs, NPs) providing general nursing care, patient screening, and clinical support.

Work Schedule/Salary/Benefits

The Health Center is open Monday through Saturday. Two evening shifts (noon – 8:30 pm) per week are required.   • New York State LPN License
  • Current CPR certification
  • Strong Computer Competency

Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for assisting primary care providers, physicians, and mid-level providers by providing general nursing care, patient screening, and clinical support. This position reports to the Associate Director of Nursing.

PATIENT CARE ASSOCIATE

Position Summary

The Patient Care Associates (PCAs) are part of our dynamic medical team and work in collaboration with our nursing and provider staff to ensure optimal patient care. The PCAs are the primary customer service contact with our patients. In this role, you are responsible for maintaining an efficient flow of patients, visitors, and phone calls into the various systems of the Center, providing administrative support to the clinical staff as well as assisting with the collection of patient registration, billing and payment data. You must have a passion for helping others, be courteous, patient and professional at all times. An entry-level position for recent college grads, it is an excellent way to begin a career in a not-for-profit or health care setting.

Work Schedule/Salary/Benefits

Full time position - Minimum of 35 hours per week. Salary is paid at an hourly rate, plus excellent benefits package.

  • BS/BA degree in Social Service related discipline.
